Chicken Pox in Haiti

Facebook Notes From Chris Nungester

Our sweet Derline is one of 18 children with Chicken pox right now! Never a dull moment in Haiti.. We are wishing we were there to hold and hug our baby girl! Please say a prayer for all the children and staff and HIS Home.

HIS Home kids are recovering from illnesses. Schneider had a sickle cell crisis about a month ago and has finally fully recovered. Unusual for his illness to last so long! Baby Niko was very dehydrated last week from diarrhea and we worried about possible cholera, but turned out that he was getting in a big molar and had an ear infection as well. IV is out today and continuing on oral antibiotics. He is playing and much better! Rose Berline just went back to school from chicken pox, and now Athulia has them :( First epidemic at HH had 38 kids sick at once, and a few years later had 28 cases at the same time. Can't wait to see where this is going this time... Never a dull moment!!!

Welcome to our world... We had 1 child (Rose Berline) who had chicken pox, and now we have 18 current cases :) Will include a list so you can be praying for all of these spotted little ones. Wenskesley, Sarah, Jeste Manie, Christa, Lydia, Julian, Derline, Bethany, Athulia, Gertrude, Martine, Jocelyn, Laurie, Caleb, Christla, Christella, Ketsia, and Tasha. The kids are all handling it well, and we are adding to our numbers daily... All cases are confined to the baby/girls house right now, but am guessing it is only a matter of time until it reaches our other two houses. Every new girl getting it celebrates her chance to stay home from school. Our teachers are celebrating too!

God is so good! He also sent a team of 21 to build a new playground for the children. The team arrived yesterday, and started working today. They take their rest breaks to hold sick kids, which the kids are eating up!!! The ones that feel better are also out trying out the new playground equip being installed. I am personally thanking God for all of the extra hands to hold sick babies!!!!

Thinking About This Little Guy

So I haven't really told a lot of people about this yet and I have really been thinking alot about this little guy. I would like everyone to meet Juvens (pronounced Jayvens) he is 4 years old his birthday is 05/07/2007 and he is our son!! We had always said we wanted to adopt 2 children from Haiti. This is what we felt god wanted us to do. We had always thought that it would be 2 girls since we already had 2 boys! Well we were a little off on this.. You see while we were in Haiti in August we met this little boy Juvens at the orphanage while we were there having lunch after church on Sunday. Juvens snuck upstairs with Kelly one of the other little boys. He came over to us and starting playing with Derline and we said hello and ask him his name and how old he was... This was pretty much it. We had only been in Haiti a day and were still in shock by what we were seeing and experiencing. Skip ahead to Friday Zach said to me that he really thought we should ask Chris about little boys that still needed a forever family... For Zach to say this to me it was huge I knew he had always been on board with the adoption but this was what he was feeling and I knew it was god talking to us. Later that day we talked with Jan and Angie about us wanting to adopt another and we were now kind of thinking boy.. Well they began saying some boy names to us and then Angie pulled this picture of this cute little boy up on the HIS Home Sponsorship Page and said this is Juvens. We immediately got chills because this was the little boy who had come up to us while at the Orphanage! How much clearer was that!! Well we decided that we needed to find out more about him, we needed to pray about it and we needed to talk to our boys about it. We found our that Juvens has been at the orphanage since he was 1 he is a very sweet and outgoing little boy and he just keeps getting looked over... After coming home and talking with the boys and getting the ok from both of them and praying about this we really feel that this is gods plan for us and its just amazing how he made all of this work and come together!! We are so excited to visit Haiti again in November and get to love on both Derline and Juvens!! Kaden is excited to have another brother and Wesley is excited to have a buddy that is his age and will be in the same grade as him and get to share a room!!

God is truly amazing and we are so thrilled to be on this journey with him!

Blessings ~ Karena
