Leaving on a Jet Plane

Counting down the days till we leave on a Jet Plane to see our beautiful girl Derline for the first time. We fly out of Chicago on August 12th into Miami and then from Miami to Port Au Prince on August 13th! We come home the following Saturday August 20th! This will be the first time for both Zach and I to fly on a plane! YIKES!!! Can you say nervous wreck!! As if I am not already nervous enough about what to take and who to look for at the PAP airport and what if and how much!!  I now have to add the whole factor of flying with this! I know it will all be worth it and we are so grateful to get to go on this trip and bond with Derline!

I ask that if you read this blog please say an extra prayer for us. I know it is going to be an incredibly hard trip probably will be the hardest thing we have ever done!

Clearance Baby

I have been looking for just the perfect baby to take to Haiti with us on our upcoming trip to meet Derline for the first time. She turns 1 eleven days before we get there and I want to make her 1st birthday special. So we bought her a special outfit and we have her lots of fun toys to play with!! Well I hadn't found a babydoll.. A friend of mine told me to go check out K-Mart they have these cute brown babies and they are on clearance! So we took a trip to Lafayette and we found the perfect clearance baby doll for our little Derline!! I can't wait to give it to her! I just know she is going to love it just like I love her!! Best part we paid $4.00 for this cute baby doll!

Goldfish Sandwich ??

Have you ever heard of a goldfish sandwich?? Nope well I hadn't either untill my little Wesley created it the other night! He loves these things!!

What do you need for a goldfish sandwich??
Goldfish Crackers
Bread
Butter

Just spread the butter on the bread and sprinkle some goldfish on and there you have it! I even tried it and I will say not to bad!

Grand Champion

Well it was 4H county fair time and Kaden was signed up for 2 different projects. One project he was really into and another he was not so into. Like usually we waited till last minute to get the projects done. I had told myself that I was not waiting this year we were going to get them finished up in the spring. Well that didn't happen! Kaden went out to Grandma Jayne's house with a picture in mind to do for his oil painting. Grandma Jayne is the oil painting expert and we are so thankful that she has helped Kaden's talent really shine!! The picture Kaden was doing was for pappaw's birthday. Kaden wanted it to be a surprise! The painting turned out very well and looked a lot like the picture Kaden had planned on painting. We got it all ready and framed and took it to the county fair. Grandma Jayne stopped the first day of fair and checked it out and told us we should really take a drive over.. Well we were busy and didn't make it so the next day she stopped by and ask have you been to check out his project yet?? We said no and she said again you really need to go... I got out of her what he had got on his painting and I then decided we NEEDED to go! So on Sunday night at about 9pm we headed to fair to check out his projects! Kaden then learned that he had got Grand Champion on his oil painting and it was going to State Fair!! He beat out an 11th grader and an 8th grader!! Kaden was a 4th grader for this project!

We were so proud of him! Way to go Kaden!! Oh and for his other project.... It was photography he got a red ribbon... boooo.... They didn't like the number/letters that we used on the project... They liked the photos but didn't like the letters...really so that I guess gets a red! Oh well we didn't let that spoil our fun! We went and got an elephant ear and some fair cookies and headed home!!

Sweet Summertime

Sitting here tonight I realized that summer is almost over... School will be starting in just about a month and it really feels like summer has just started! We have had some fun this summer some laughs some great times with family and friends! This post might be a little long so sit back relax and enjoy!

Baseball thats just screams summer!! Kaden moved up to  live pitch this year and really enjoyed it! Baseball starts so early it seems like and it doesn't end untill the end of June it really takes up a lot of your summer but its worth it!

Notre Dame Football Camp / New Buffalo Michigan and Friends From Spain..... This year for camp we decided to stay up in New Buffalo and visit the beach for 3 days.. We had lots of fun! Camp was great like always! We got to take Miren and Jon (who arrived in the US  a few days earlier for a 6 weeks stay) with us to visit Michigan and campus and cousin Mackenzie also went along! It was a mini vacation but we sure enjoyed it!!

Wolcott turned 150 this year so what better way to celebrate than on the 4th of July at the annual festival! It was a 2 day event with lots of fun things planned to do!! We had a golf cart to drive around like usual which the kids really love and the sorority had a float in the parade and we won 1st place!!

Annual summer cookout with the Holders.. Every summer when Aunt Lisa is home we always have her and the kids over along with grandma and aunt kim and sam. This year Dwyanne and Diana came and Dians's kids. It was a fun evening and the kids all enjoyed it! There was lots of water balloons and laughs! We always end the evening with Big Kahunas ( Ice cream sundaes) !!

So this summer we decided to take down out 16 foot round pool that we have had for about 5 years because Zach found a great deal on a pool on craigs list. Zach and Justin went to Indy to get the pool and then it took us about a month to get it up and going but it sure was worth it! I am very happy with our craigs list find!!

Fun with neighborhood friends! Kaden and Logan spent a lot of time together this summer. Logan is a great kid and we love having him over at the house! They had fun ridding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, playing with water balloons, swimming in the pool, playing baseball and basketball...

Cholera scare at Baby D's orphanage. It was brought to our attention that several kids have had Cholera the orphanage lost 2 babies and had about 6 kids sick. An adoptive mom named Kelleigh went over to be with her son and help care with him and she was able to check on our beautiful baby d for us and she was fine! We are looking forward to meeting Kelleigh in August when we go over for our first family visit!

Wesley's first birthday party invitation came this summer to his friend (girlfriend) Gracies 4th birthday bowling party. Kaden also tagged along for the day as he had nothing to do and we had a fun day!

Well I think thats it up to this point of the summer!! I am sure I will have some more but i will leave that for another post!!

Five Question Friday

Who is ready for this 3 day weekend?? I sure know I am!! I always hate coming back to work after a 3 day weekend but at the same time I love the extra day off!! We should have plenty to do this weekend since our little town is celebrating its 150th birthday!! We always have a big festival but this year it is going to be even bigger!! So let the party begin!

1. If you had the opportunity to bungee jump, would you?

I think I might... It kind of looks like fun and what can I say you only live once!! I don't think I would drive myself to do it but if I was in the right place at the right time and the opportunity was there sure I would!

2. Would you rather go to the movie theater or to the drive-in?
I really like the drive in 2 movies for the price of 1 is a great deal!! The problem is staying awake for both movies!! and the bugs I hate the bugs!!

3. Do you have your groceries delivered?
No I do not... This would be nice when going on vacation to arrive and already have my groceries there!! That would be amazing!

4. Eyebrows: Do you wax, thread, pluck, or stay au naturel?
I wax and pluck

5. Would the people you went to high school with be surprised by your life today?
I dont know probably not but then again maybe!
