HIS Home Christmas Gifts!!

A few months ago we received a message from Chris the director of Derline's orphanage about sending Christmas gifts to Ohio for the container that is going to Haiti. They have a lot of kids at the Orphanage so it will take a lot of goodies. Well I emailed my my grandma, two aunts and they went to work on this project for me!! They collected all kids of goodies for the kids at HIS Home with the help of there churches! I am happy to say that I shipped 3 big boxes of stuff to Ohio today. I am sure all the stuff that we are sending will bring some smiles to some great kids on Christmas!! In these boxes you will find love! You will find flip flops, backpacks, barbies, makeup, cars, coloring books, baby toys, balls the list just goes on... I can only imagine the smiles these little boxes will bring!
Thank You Aunt Lisa, Aunt Kim and Grandma Mary!!

In these boxes I also put 2 gifts for our baby girl. That was very sad and hard too do. We took the boys and we picked out a new baby and some learning blocks for her. The fact that she will get those on Christmas and we won't be with her just breaks my heart! She is loved by so so many people and she doesn't even know it!

Thinking of you Baby D

I just read this article in the Edmonton Journal and I am really thinking about our little girl right now and what this might mean for us.... We could use your prayers we are adopting independently and I hope this doesn't affect anything for us!

We love you Baby D

Haiti to tighten adoption rules

President vows to issue decree amid parliamentary stalemate

Agence France-Presse June 24, 2011 Haitian President Michel Martelly said Thursday he would issue a presidential decree to tighten up Haiti's adoption procedures and ensure all applications go through authorized entities.

Legislation to that effect has already gone through the National Assembly and is expected to pass the Senate soon, but Martelly, who was sworn in as president in May, is struggling to form a government to sign off on the law.

Martelly's first pick as prime minister, businessman Daniel-Gerard Rouzier, was rejected by a parliament dominated by his predecessor's ruling party earlier this week.

"While waiting for a vote on this law, a delay I hope will be as short as possible, I intend to issue a presidential decree making it obligatory for adoption applications to go through authorized organisms, as the Hague Convention outlines," Martelly said. The president vowed to ratify the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption, which sets forth guidelines and procedures and outlaws private or individual adoptions, during his five-year term. He was speaking at a Port-au-Prince gathering of 10 adopter nations, including France, the former colonial power which took in more Haitian children than any other country in 2010.

This "eagerly awaited" measure will effectively ban individual adoption procedures, Martelly said.

Haiti was already the poorest country in the Americas even before a January 2010 earthquake destroyed much of the capital and killed an estimated 225,000 people, creating countless more orphans.

A high-profile adoption abuse case following the quake saw 10 Americans charged with kidnapping after they sought to take a busload of 33 children over the border into the Dominican Republic without the proper paperwork. The Baptist missionaries at first presented the children as quake orphans, but it quickly emerged many of the children still had living parents, infuriating many Haitians.

A total of 318 adopted Haitian children were included in a special program and flown to France last Christmas Eve. The children were all in the process of being adopted when the quake struck on Jan. 12, 2010, causing adoptions to be delayed with some records lost in the rubble.

New Pictures!!

Just to see you smile... I'd do anything that you wanted me too! Thats about how I feel about this little girl and my boys too!!! Getting new pictures of our baby girl is wonderful... Its makes us want to be able to hold her even more but it also shows us that she is growing and she is ok : ) Now If I can only wait till August to see her for the first time and celebrate her 1st Birthday with her!!

Thanks to Julie Manfred for taking these pics of our baby girl!! Julie just got back from a trip to HIS home to deliver formula.. Some i'm sure this little stinker will be drinking!! I am having a hard time trying to figure out what size of clothes to take for her in August. If I had to guess from these pics I would have to say 18 or 24 months! She is such a little chunk! I am sure she will start to slim down once she starts walking!! Oh my I can't wait to hold her in my arms.. I am thinking she is probably going to look at me and wonder who is this lady that loves me soo much and is hugging and kissing me all up!! lol..... We love you Baby D and can't wait to hold you!
